Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopic surgery, often referred to as minimally invasive surgery, is a less invasive form of surgery. There are smaller scars (internally and externally), less bleeding, and you have a faster recovery, which is usually accompanied with less pain. Some laparoscopic procedures have two one-fourth inch incisions to allow for the fiber-optic lens (endoscope) to be inserted into your body. The lens shows video to the board certified bariatric surgeon, here at Arizona Weight Loss Solutions, via a television monitor. Another four to five one-fourth inch incisions will be made to allow for the necessary tools to be inserted.

The following procedures can be done laparoscopically:

  • Gastric Band (LapBand)
  • Gastric Bypass Roux-en-Y
  • Sleeve Gastrectomy

The incision sites will be closed with dissolvable sutures.
