Revisions And Conversions

Revision and conversion procedures are done here at Arizona Weight Loss Solutions. Our bariatric surgeons perform the following revision procedures:

  • Gastric Band over Gastric Bypass
  • Sleeve Gastrectomy
  • StomaphyX
  • Conversion of Band to Bypass

A revision of a procedure may be required if your initial bariatric surgery has failed. If you are gaining weight, still hungry after your meal, or are experiencing nutritional deficiencies, then revision surgery may be performed to correct the problem.

Revision surgery is done in order to alter or repair an existing procedure to aid in successful weight loss, and help create better restriction. This will cause you to eat less and feel full after eating small portions.

The individual reasons for a failure vary for every person. A large part of the process of getting back on track is to be involved and committed to a multidisciplinary program. This program should include an evaluation of nutrition in food and exercise abilities; as well as, a psychological evaluation, and motivation to participate in the goal of a good outcome. Most of the original surgeries were done properly, and are still functioning; but, the obesity remains a problem.

We will evaluate the surgery that was done, and make recommendations to help you have a better outcome, and realistic goal. Some revision surgery carries a higher risk than the original surgery, and should be part of the decision making process.

At Arizona Weight Loss Solutions we understand that one procedure isn’t right for everyone. We do conversion surgery for failed weight loss procedures. Conversion procedures may be necessary in order to achieve maximum results, with healthy outcomes. The following conversions are available:

  • Gastric Band Gastric Bypass
  • Gastric Band Sleeve Gastrectomy

Your bariatric surgeon will go over your individual needs and concerns at the time of your consultation. For more general information on these individual procedures, we invite you to sign up for our free educational seminar, or call our office at: 480.419.2280
